Grandma Tree Personalized Plaque

While I was on vacation, I received a request from a grandmother who wanted a plaque for her grandson. She liked my silhouette plaques with people under trees and wondered if we could make something more personal, perhaps a grandmother and little boy. The text she desired was a simple "nighty" night uttered when "tucking" a child in. Oh, the power and sentiment of those words. Most of us may well forget the Preamble to the Constitution or even our anniversary date (Ok, only me!), but remember simple words spoken in love and comfort, so long ago. In my mind it is one of the sweetest things and one of the most thoughtful gifts I have ever had the privilege to make. I created a graphic of an elderly woman leaning over to see what magic a little boy might hold. It reminded me of picking dandelions for my mother as a child. My mother would bundle them and place these weeds, which my father spent most of his life fighting, in a vase and place them on the table. Odd, I remember this but it was on my mind in making this plaque. Note how the personal message is raised lettering that is subtly raised from the grass.

My customer and new friend replied; "Your beautiful carved wood plaque arrived today in perfect condition. It made our hearts smile to see it. Beautiful work. God has blessed you with a wonderful talent."
